San Diego Surf Film Festival

The 2015 San Diego Surf Film Festival will highlight more than 20 international films, with numerous filmmakers and producers in attendance, plus Q&A sessions, filmmaker panel and workshops, an awesome surf art gallery, surf legends and shaping demos, beach clean-ups and expression sessions, fantastic live musical entertainment, live art, rad people and raging after-party events. Surf enthusiasts and filmmakers from around the globe come celebrate the art of surf cinema at these beautiful SoCal beaches.

San Diego may not be the birthplace of surfing but there is no questioning the contributions and innovations that this coastal city and community have shared with the surfing universe. Early in the 20th century, visiting Hawaiians George Freeth and Duke Kahanamoku sewed seeds into fertile soil that flourishes to this day. Since the first waves were ridden, the surfing timeline consists of revered names such as Simmons, Ekstrom, Gordon, Van Artsdalen, Frye, Diffenderfer, Hansen, Curren, Caster, Hynson, Dobson, Oakey, Benson, Lis, O'Rourke, Divine, Preisendorfer, Mirandon, Pendarvis, Roper, Thrailkill, Warner, Beal, Kenvin, Steele, Hall, Burch, Feighan, Littlemore and Baker - to mention just a few. Combine this surfing history with over 70 miles of coastline, an innovative group of board designers and a deep talent pool, it to helps understand the significance the area has.

San Diego embraces everything that is wave riding. Since the festival's inception, the event has been focused towards celebrating those who draw a different line in sand. Much like the colorful characters of surfing's past, the future of surf cinema will be found in the among those making their own unique, different paths.

Oceanside First Friday Art Walk, Southern California

Join the celebration of a thriving arts community in the center of downtown Oceanside on Southern California Coast.  The First Friday of every month, the: Oceanside Arts Walk will showcase live performances, music poetry, art education, culinary and pop-up art galleries showcased in local businesses and public spaces.  This is an excellent opportunity for neighbors, friends relatives and the community to get to know more about the passion driving the local art scene.. It's an exciting time for all who participated - come early and meet some of the talented artists displaying their works.

Event maps are be distributed every month, listing that month’s locations, art happenings and sponsors. Admission to all venues is free and open to the public.

The Oceanside Cultural Consortium (OCC) was established in 2013 with the goal of establishing Oceanside and surrounding communities as an important arts, culture, entertainment and tourism hub/destination. Its members include nearly 50 different Oceanside arts, community, business, and civic organizations.

Laguna Beach Saturday Morning Jazz Jam, SoCal

Don't miss the opportunity on Saturday mornings to see local professional jazz musicians wheeling in BIG instruments for the Laguna Coffee Jazz Jam - including pianos, cellos and entire drum kits. These guys squish and jam themselves into a few square feet of space and proceed to fill every corner of our shop with the finest jazz around.

People crowd in for this standing-room only musical event, shoulder to shoulder, and overflow to the tables and street beyond for a solid two hours as the musicians play. Resident and guest singers (sometimes very celebrity guest singers) take to the stage (that’s the floor space next to the table with the coffee creamers and sugar packets), and it’s off and running.

Come on down to the Laguna Coffee Jazz Jam on Saturday morning, bring some friends & enjoy these special musical talents of these performing artists.

The 12th annual Oceanside Music Festival, OMFest, offers five concerts this year boasting a variety of music genre, showcasing both student and professional musicians from throughout Southern California. This year’s OMFest series opens October 5 and runs through October 20 featuring a wide range of concerts including Early Rock-n-Roll themed musical, as well as liturgical, choral, and classical music.

8th Annual Carlsbad Music Festival : Carlsbad, California

The 8th annual Carlsbad Music Festival will take place in the charming seaside Village of Carlsbad from Friday-Sunday, September 23-25, 2011.

The Festival has been praised by KPBS as “one of the area’s most innovative music showcases” and by the Los Angeles Times as “magnificently enlightening.” This year’s Festival will feature the Calder Quartet, My Brightest Diamond, Build, several composers-in-residence, and many more exciting artists.
